Find the need. Meet the need. Help change a nation...

Thanks to BLICK art supplies and a few donations from my friends and family back home, I was able to lead an art activity to a select group of creative and extremely talented girls. I chose the theme, "Tree of Life" because that is name of the organization. I had the girls paint an inspirational tree with words such as "love," "amore," "faith," "virtue," "joy," "patience," etc. Take a look at their inspiring creations...

Our group also had the opportunity to visit the Mayan Ruins in Copan, Honduras...

Okay, I must say, Pinterest should be the next "go-to" place for great education ideas! 

Here's one idea for introducing high frequency words with younger students. It is called the "Parking Lot."

Touching the stingrays...ouch!

What can I say? I'm a little obsessed with Dr. Seuss. After reading about the life of this extraordinary man, I spotted some interesting facts. For those of you do not know...Seuss is a Bavarian name, which Dr. Seuss received from his mother who emigrated from Bavaria to the states. Theodore Seuss Geisel was not really a doctor, but he was an absolutely amazing cartoonist. 

Dr. Seuss' first book? That would be And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street in 1937.

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. In honor of his Birthday and his accomplishments, my class participated in the nationwide Read Across America Day. We read everything from The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham, The Foot Book, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and my ultimate favorite...Oh, the Place You'll Go!

There's nothing better than a Seussical photo-shoot! My kids had an absolute blast holding up there favorite Dr. Seuss books and book characters... 

On top of it being an exciting, fun-filled Seussical Friday, my brother got to come home...after being away for eight months!
