More Montessori Happenings...

This week, I'm feeling the 'Montessori Madness' vibe. Here's a sneak peek of some of our presentations...

A must read for anyone who has a desire for traveling, a heart for helping others, and a love for adventure...

Little Princes has inspired me to continue to push past my own little world of "me, me, me" and strive towards being a more compassionate, selfless human being. Next book on my 'must-read' reading list...Proof of Heaven. If anybody has any other suggestions, please feel free to comment!

More Honduras Happenings...

I was presented with the opportunity to teach English (alongside a Spanish translator) to a large class of tenth graders!

I even had a chance to teach a few of the children in the village...

Here is the sweet widow we built a house for...

Honduras 2013

Find the need. Meet the need. Help change a nation...

Thanks to BLICK art supplies and a few donations from my friends and family back home, I was able to lead an art activity to a select group of creative and extremely talented girls. I chose the theme, "Tree of Life" because that is name of the organization. I had the girls paint an inspirational tree with words such as "love," "amore," "faith," "virtue," "joy," "patience," etc. Take a look at their inspiring creations...

Two of the sweetest little boys in the village...

Our group also had the opportunity to visit the Mayan Ruins in Copan, Honduras...

Harvard grad, Dr. Nonie Lesaux, discusses the struggle that English language learners go through and ways to improve upon instruction in order to address and motivate a classroom of diverse learners within the classroom.
Check it out!

Okay, I must say, Pinterest should be the next "go-to" place for great education ideas!
Here's one idea for introducing high frequency words with younger students. It is called the "Parking Lot."

What can I say? I'm a little obsessed with Dr. Seuss. After reading about the life of this extraordinary man, I spotted some interesting facts. For those of you do not know...Seuss is a Bavarian name, which Dr. Seuss received from his mother who emigrated from Bavaria to the states. Theodore Seuss Geisel was not really a doctor, but he was an absolutely amazing cartoonist.

Dr. Seuss' first book? That would be And to think that I saw it on Mulberry Street in 1937.

My Seussical reading wish list...The King's Stilts, If I Ran the Circus, and You're Only Old Once!

"You're never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read to a child." ~ Dr. Seuss

Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904. In honor of his Birthday and his accomplishments, my class participated in the nationwide Read Across America Day. We read everything from The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who!, The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham, The Foot Book, One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish, and my ultimate favorite...Oh, the Place You'll Go!

There's nothing better than a Seussical photo-shoot! My kids had an absolute blast holding up there favorite Dr. Seuss books and book characters...

On top of it being an exciting, fun-filled Seussical Friday, my brother got to come home...after being away for eight months!

Dr. Seuss Baby Shower...

"A person's a person no matter how small." ~ Dr. Seuss

These weekend, I had the honor of hosting my best friend's baby shower! It was so exciting and I can't wait for the arrival of her baby boy!

The cake turned out AMAZING! Aren't I the greatest cake designer ever?! (Just kidding...all the credit goes to the Publix bakery!)

Delicious ABC sugar cookies...

Thing 1 and Thing 2 cupcakes...aren't they adorable? (credit for these yummy treats goes to a good friend of the mother-to-be)

I wanted to make "Clover cupcakes" with pink cotton candy on top, but the pink icing turned out just fine! (They simply are red velvet cupcakes with strawberry icing...delicious!)

SEUSSICAL Parfaits...

Grinch Punch...who would of thought slimy green water could taste sooo good?!

Thanks to one of the many cute ideas I saw on Pinterest, I decided to paint an old, HUGE golden frame (that has just been sitting in my garage) and turn it into a photo booth for the baby shower. Turned out to be a huge hit too!
